What plants can I grow for my garden display

Bulbs can be chosen and planted this time of year, hyacinth or allium are good ones to try, Try and choose bulbs that will give a compliemnt of colour to the other plants in the bed.

It's also important you choose a potatoe that is not prone to desease or suffers from the frost.

Hardy biennials

Hardy biennials (or short-lived perennials grown as biennials) (B) which complete their life-cycle in two seasons include plants such as Alcea (hollyhock), Dianthus (sweet William), Erysimum (wallflower) and Myosotis (forget-me-not). Ornamental brassicas (kale and cabbage) are ideal for winter displays.

There are some lovely hardy Hardy perennials that are great to plant this months, there are some varierties which will give a great flash of colour with there extravagent flower colour, others can give you the option of aq green roof effect where the leaves create a really nice folliage effect and colour that will carry on through the winter months too, Saxifraga is a good example of this. There are also a range or grasses which can give ypur flower bed a central base feature if you have room of course.
