Hanging baskets can give a great splash of colour and beauty to a multitude of areas around the garden and house, they can be hung by the front door to give a welcoming entrance, on the rear patio area, the wall or garden fence. they can help to enhance and add a more 3 dimensional look and feel.

Can I make a trailing basket

Yes it's quite straight forward to make a hanging basket, but you will need to ensure you get hold of a water reatining gel and nutrient rich fertiliser as the plant will be isolated from nature and will just depend on whatever is given in the basket. Also use a light weight manure to surround the plant. The baskets can be made, but if you havn't time they're realonable to buy in a wide range of styles and materials including wood and the classic metal styles.

Which plant shaould I choose

We find the most popular are the brightest as they can be such a center piece for a more barren area of the garden. It's really personal choice of which flower and colour you decide to go with but here"s a few common choices gardeners often choose.

Fuchsia hanging basket

There are some outstanding Fushsia plants to choose from, even better if you can source a trailing version. they have a wonderful bulb which is almost bell shaped and often can be seen in the garden in a 2 tone colour.

Begonia plant

The begonia has a wonderful red fiery petal with striking sharp points and can trail to create a shockingly good display in the garden. They are also quite simple to plant, just ensure you cut some holes in the base of the basket to allow the plant to thrive also ensure you water this everyday as it is a very thirsty plant.
